## GHRP-2, in short

GHRP-2 (pralmorelin) is a synthetic six-amino-acid peptide that mimics ghrelin, the stomach’s hunger hormone. By activating the ghrelin receptor (GHS-R1a) on the pituitary and hypothalamus, it triggers a strong, short pulse of growth hormone, and it also raises appetite, prolactin and cortisol. Its best-documented medical use is a one-dose test for growth hormone deficiency, and the human data come from short studies of hormone release, appetite and metabolism.

## How does GHRP-2 work?

GHRP-2 copies a natural hormone signal that tells the body to release growth hormone.

-

### Mimics a hunger hormone

It uses the same signal as ghrelin, a hunger hormone. The pituitary reads it as a cue to release growth hormone.[2](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-howard-1996)[3](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-kojima-1999)

-

### Adds to the body’s own cue

Reviews say it adds to the body’s own releasing hormone and eases somatostatin, the brake on growth hormone.[4](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-ghigo-1997)

-

### Also nudges stress hormones

In people it also raised prolactin and the stress hormones ACTH and cortisol, along with growth hormone.[5](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-arvat-1997)

## GHRP-2 benefits: what it is studied for

GHRP-2 has no approved use. Everything below comes from short experiments in people, mostly in small groups.

### A test for growth hormone deficiency

In a Japanese study of 77 healthy adults and 58 patients with growth hormone deficiency, one intravenous dose of GHRP-2 clearly separated the two groups.[6](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-chihara-2007)

## How GHRP-2 began: a growth hormone peptide that made people hungry

Put seven lean, healthy young men on a slow drip of GHRP-2 under the skin for four and a half hours, then walk them to a buffet. Every one of them eats more than he did on a saline drip, about 36 percent more on average, and the extra food is the same mix of carbohydrate, fat and protein as usual. That 2005 experiment at a New York obesity research center is the shortest route to understanding what this peptide really is.

GHRP-2 was built to release growth hormone, and it does that well. It belongs to a family of small synthetic peptides that grew out of work by Cyril Bowers at Tulane University, whose work on synthetic growth hormone-releasing peptides began in the 1970s and produced, in 1984, the six-amino-acid chain now called GHRP-6. GHRP-2, also called pralmorelin, is one of the later super-analogs of GHRP-6, with a strong effect on growth hormone.

For years nobody knew why these peptides worked. Between 1982 and 1984, Bowers came to suspect they were imitating a natural hormone that had not yet been found. In 1996 a Merck team cloned the receptor they act on in the pituitary and hypothalamus, and in 1999 Japanese researchers found the hormone that normally fills it. It came from the stomach, it released growth hormone, and they named it ghrelin, from an ancient root meaning to grow.

That stomach origin explains the buffet. Ghrelin is a hunger signal as much as a growth signal, and GHRP-2 presses the same button. Bowers later wrote that the first sign these peptides did more than release growth hormone was an increase in food intake. Keep both effects in mind and the rest of the GHRP-2 story makes sense.[11](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-laferrere-2005)[1](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-bowers-1984)[5](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-arvat-1997)[8](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-bowers-2012)[2](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-howard-1996)[3](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-kojima-1999)

## How GHRP-2 works: one receptor, three messages

Growth hormone release runs on a push and a brake. The hypothalamus sends GHRH, growth hormone-releasing hormone, as the push and somatostatin as the brake, and the pituitary answers in pulses through the day and night. GHRP-2 adds a third input. It binds the growth hormone secretagogue receptor, GHS-R1a, on pituitary cells and in the hypothalamus, the same receptor ghrelin uses.

It appears to work on both of the existing controls. Reviews describe GHRPs easing the somatostatin brake and adding to GHRH. Bowers found that in living people the effect depends on the body’s own GHRH being present, even though GHRP alone releases growth hormone from pituitary cells in a dish. In his chronic studies, repeated GHRP-2 turned a merely additive response to GHRP-2 plus GHRH into a synergistic one.

The second message is hunger, carried by the same receptor, which also sits in the arcuate region of the hypothalamus, a hub for appetite. The third is stress. In a 1997 Turin study of six young adults, GHRP-2 raised prolactin, ACTH and cortisol alongside growth hormone, and the ACTH and cortisol rise was about as large as the one produced by corticotropin-releasing hormone, the usual starter of the stress axis.

The growth hormone pulse is also easy to dampen. A 1997 review lists what blunts it: glucose, free fatty acids, glucocorticoids such as cortisol, and growth hormone itself. In experiments, raising glucose or giving glucocorticoids blunts the GHRP-driven pulse, though that does not let anyone predict a given person’s response. It is the first hint that what GHRP-2 does may depend on the body it lands in.[2](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-howard-1996)[4](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-ghigo-1997)[8](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-bowers-2012)[7](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-bowers-1996)[5](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-arvat-1997)

## What GHRP-2 is used for: a one-dose test for growth hormone deficiency

The international first-line test for adult growth hormone deficiency is the insulin tolerance test. A clinician gives insulin to push blood sugar down on purpose and checks whether the pituitary answers with growth hormone. It works, but the induced low blood sugar can cause severe adverse events, so it is ruled out for some patients. Japanese endocrinologists went looking for a safer alternative.

In a study published in 2007, a Japanese study group gave a single intravenous dose of GHRP-2 after an overnight fast to 77 healthy adults and 58 patients already known to have severe growth hormone deficiency, then sampled blood for two hours. Every participant’s growth hormone peaked within an hour. The average peak in healthy people was roughly 60 times higher than in patients, and repeat tests gave consistent results.

Two details made it practical. The response did not depend on sex, and although it ran slightly lower in older and heavier people, that did not change who was diagnosed. A single cut-off identified severe deficiency with high reliability, and that cut-off lined up with the one used for the insulin test, so clinicians could read the two side by side.

Japan adopted it. A 2014 review notes that international guidelines still treat the insulin test as the gold standard, but the GHRP-2 test is available in Japan and recommended there as a convenient and safe stimulation test. This is the best-documented role GHRP-2 has in medicine, and it uses the peptide once, to ask the pituitary a single question.[6](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-chihara-2007)[10](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-fukuda-2014)

## GHRP-2 and appetite: the hunger comes with the receptor

Back to the buffet. In the 2005 study the infusion raised growth hormone enormously, with total exposure over four hours more than 13 times higher than on saline. Food intake rose in every subject, even after adjusting for body weight. The authors concluded that GHRP-2, like ghrelin, increases eating in people, and they proposed it as a tool for studying how ghrelin starts a meal.

For anyone hoping a growth hormone peptide will help them lean out, this matters more than any dosing chart. Growth hormone does promote fat breakdown, but a drug that also makes you eat a third more at a sitting could complicate a fat-loss goal. The study measured one meal, not body fat or energy balance over weeks, so how that nets out is unknown. The men ate more while keeping the usual proportions of carbohydrate, fat and protein, so the effect looked like plain hunger rather than a craving for one kind of food.

GHRP-2 drives both effects through the same receptor, and these studies do not show whether a different ghrelin-receptor agonist could keep the growth hormone pulse and lose the hunger. In people who are frail or losing weight, extra appetite could in theory be welcome, but GHRP-2 has not been tested for that purpose in the studies cited here.[11](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-laferrere-2005)[3](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-kojima-1999)

## One hormone was not enough: GHRP-2 in intensive care

Some of the most revealing GHRP-2 research happened at the bedside of very sick people. Men who spend weeks in intensive care break down protein and bone at a raised rate, and their hormone systems go quiet. A Leuven team led by Greta Van den Berghe studied 33 such men and found suppressed pulses of growth hormone, of thyroid-stimulating hormone and of LH, the signal behind testosterone, with low IGF-1, low thyroid hormones and low testosterone.

The men were randomized to five days of placebo, GHRP-2 alone, GHRP-2 with TRH, which restarts the thyroid axis, or both of those plus pulses of GnRH, which restarts the reproductive axis. GHRP-2 alone did what it promised on paper. Growth hormone pulses came back, and IGF-1 and its binding proteins returned to normal.

Protein breakdown did not follow. Urea production, a marker of protein being broken down for fuel, fell only in the groups that also restored the thyroid axis, and a marker of bone building rose only with all three hormones. By day five, GHRP-2 alone and GHRP-2 with TRH had raised lactate and white cell counts, changes not seen with the full combination. The authors concluded that correcting several hormone deficits together is what counters the wasting state.

This is the idea worth carrying away from GHRP-2. A normal IGF-1 on a lab report is a number, and in these men the number recovered while the raised marker of protein breakdown did not come down on GHRP-2 alone. Hormones work as a network, and turning one dial in a system where several were off changed the lab result more than the outcome. The study was in critical illness, so treat the wider lesson as a hypothesis: before pushing on growth hormone, ask what else in your system is limiting.[9](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-vandenberghe-2002)

## Age, body fat and repeated use: what changes the GHRP-2 response

The growth hormone response to these peptides follows a life arc. A 1997 review describes it rising from birth to puberty, holding through adulthood and declining after that. By the sixth decade it is reduced but still marked, and still larger than the response to GHRH. The Japanese diagnostic study saw the same pattern in miniature, with slightly lower peaks in older adults.

Body composition and health matter as well. The same review reports weaker responses in obesity and in an underactive thyroid, and almost none in people whose pituitary stalk is disconnected or who have Cushing’s syndrome, a state of excess cortisol. In the Japanese study, extra body fat lowered the response slightly, though not enough to change a diagnosis.

Then there is repetition. Continuous exposure partly desensitizes the pituitary to these peptides, more with a constant infusion and less with intermittent use, and prolonged use still raised IGF-1 in animals and people. Bowers’ chronic GHRP-2 studies, which ran for 7 to 30 days in younger and older men and women, found that whether the response faded depended partly on how much was given and how often.

Put together, the same peptide can mean very different things in a lean 30-year-old, a 70-year-old with high blood sugar and someone with an untreated thyroid problem. That is a practical argument for measuring the system before anyone decides anything.[4](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-ghigo-1997)[6](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-chihara-2007)[7](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-bowers-1996)

## What we actually know about GHRP-2 in people

The human record is real but narrow. GHRP-2 has been given to healthy volunteers in short pharmacology studies, to adults being tested for growth hormone deficiency, to lean men in an appetite study, to critically ill men for five days, and to younger and older adults for up to a month in Bowers’ chronic studies.

What is missing is the trial most readers care about. No controlled study among these sources shows that GHRP-2 improves muscle, strength, recovery, fat loss or ageing in healthy adults. Its one established medical use, in Japan, is diagnostic, and the diagnostic test gives it once.

That gap matters because growth hormone is a hormone of trade-offs. It builds lean tissue, and it also makes the body less responsive to insulin, and the GHRP family adds hunger and cortisol on top. Without longer trials, the studies here cannot say how those trade-offs net out for a healthy person over months.[5](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-arvat-1997)[6](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-chihara-2007)[11](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-laferrere-2005)[9](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-vandenberghe-2002)[7](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-bowers-1996)[10](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-fukuda-2014)

## GHRP-2 side effects and safety

The predictable effects come straight from the receptor: more hunger, and higher prolactin, ACTH and cortisol alongside growth hormone. These were consistent findings in controlled human studies, which makes them part of the pharmacology rather than rare reactions.

FDA’s April 2026 compounding safety page adds a more serious list. It says FDA is aware of reports of serious adverse events in patients given GHRP-2, including increased insulin requirement, deaths of critically ill study subjects, infection and pancreatitis, and it states that causality has not been established. It also flags a risk of immune reactions with injectable and nasal forms, linked to peptide aggregation and impurities.

The insulin finding fits the biology. Growth hormone makes tissues less sensitive to insulin, so a person who already struggles with blood sugar has the least room to absorb an extra pulse. Anyone with diabetes or prediabetes, a personal history of cancer, past pancreatitis, a serious illness, a pregnancy or a place in tested sport should take GHRP-2 to a clinician as a question first.[5](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-arvat-1997)[11](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-laferrere-2005)[12](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-fda-bulks)

## Which labs matter with GHRP-2, and why

No validated GHRP-2 monitoring panel exists. As general baseline context, fasting glucose, fasting insulin and HbA1c describe glucose handling, which a clinician may want to see given that growth hormone opposes insulin and FDA’s page lists increased insulin requirement among the reports it has received. HbA1c gives a three-month average that a single morning reading cannot.

Cortisol is the other marker people ask about, because GHRP-2 acutely raises ACTH and cortisol. Stress, sleep disruption and illness can shift cortisol too, in ways that vary, so a single morning value is context for a clinician to interpret, not a measure of chronic stress or a test of whether GHRP-2 suits you.

This is how Vitals Vault approaches anything in the growth hormone family. A blood panel at Quest Diagnostics comes first, a licensed clinician reviews your results and history and decides what, if anything, fits, and any course ends with a retest of the same markers.[12](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-fda-bulks)[4](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-ghigo-1997)[5](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-arvat-1997)

## Where GHRP-2 stands in 2026

GHRP-2 is not an FDA-approved drug in the United States. FDA’s April 2026 page lists it, for injectable and nasal routes, among bulk substances that may present significant safety risks in 503B compounding. When FDA granted enforcement discretion on October 29, 2026 for six peptides to be compounded by 503A pharmacies, GHRP-2 was not one of them.

Athletes face a separate rule. Growth hormone secretagogues and releasing factors fall in the S2 class of the World Anti-Doping Agency’s Prohibited List, which applies in and out of competition.

Its one established medical role, the diagnostic test used in Japan, gives a single supervised dose to measure how the pituitary responds.[12](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-fda-bulks)[13](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-ncpa)[14](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-wada)[10](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-fukuda-2014)

## What this means for you

GHRP-2 is a ghrelin mimic. It sends a strong, short growth hormone pulse, and hunger and a rise in cortisol come with it. Its best-documented use is a one-dose diagnostic test, and its most instructive human study showed that restoring growth hormone on its own did not stop a sick body breaking itself down.

If you are curious about it, start one step back from growth hormone. Ask what is actually limiting you right now, whether that is sleep, blood sugar, stress, thyroid or sex hormones, and whether pushing on the ghrelin receptor would touch it at all. A clinician can look at that question with your history and labs. Blood tests describe your starting point; they cannot prove that GHRP-2 would be beneficial or safe for you.[6](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-chihara-2007)[9](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-vandenberghe-2002)[11](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-laferrere-2005)

## What to expect with GHRP-2

A responsible start is a health history, a baseline blood panel and a clinician’s view on whether anything in the growth hormone family fits at all. GHRP-2 is not available through the October 2026 compounding pathway, so for most people that conversation is about understanding the options and the trade-offs.

On timing, the studies describe fast, short effects. In the diagnostic study growth hormone peaked within an hour of one dose, and appetite rose during a single afternoon infusion. With repeated or continuous use the pituitary response can partly fade. There are no human studies tracking body composition or recovery over months, so any longer timeline is unknown.[6](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-chihara-2007)[11](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-laferrere-2005)[4](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-ghigo-1997)[7](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-bowers-1996)[13](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-ncpa)

## GHRP-2 myths and evidence

-

### GHRP-2 only raises growth hormone

In controlled human studies it also raised prolactin, ACTH and cortisol, with an ACTH and cortisol rise similar to corticotropin-releasing hormone, and it increased food intake. All of that runs through the ghrelin receptor.[5](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-arvat-1997)[11](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-laferrere-2005)

-

### If GHRP-2 raises your IGF-1, your body is building tissue

In critically ill men, GHRP-2 alone brought IGF-1 back to normal, yet the marker of protein breakdown fell only when the thyroid axis was restarted as well. A normal lab number did not mean the catabolic state had eased.[9](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-vandenberghe-2002)

-

### GHRP-2 is a fat-loss peptide

None of the controlled studies cited here shows fat loss. The one human appetite study found people ate about 36 percent more on a GHRP-2 infusion, which could work against a fat-loss goal.[11](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-laferrere-2005)

-

### GHRP-2 works the same for everyone

The response is lower with age, with obesity and with an underactive thyroid, almost absent in some pituitary conditions, and blunted by glucose and cortisol. Repeated use can also partly fade it.[4](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-ghigo-1997)[6](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-chihara-2007)[7](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-bowers-1996)

## How is GHRP-2 taken?

In research, GHRP-2 has been given as an intravenous dose for diagnostic testing and as a subcutaneous infusion. FDA’s page refers to injectable and nasal forms. Any form sold outside a prescription pathway is not made for people and is not regulated as a medicine.[6](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-chihara-2007)[11](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-laferrere-2005)[12](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-fda-bulks)

## GHRP-2 dosage

There is no FDA-approved dose of GHRP-2 for any use. In people, it has been given into a vein as a single test dose to check growth hormone reserve, or as a slow infusion over hours to days in research and intensive care settings; the dosage table lists those doses. No controlled trial has tested a home schedule, and your clinician sets your dose.[6](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-chihara-2007)[5](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-arvat-1997)[11](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-laferrere-2005)[9](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-vandenberghe-2002)

## Typical GHRP-2 dosage

GHRP-2 has no FDA-approved dose. Human studies gave it as a single test dose into a vein to check growth hormone reserve, or as a slow continuous infusion over hours to days in research and intensive care settings. None tested home use, and a clinician sets the actual dose.

These are reference doses from FDA labels, studies in people and clinical practice reports, shown for education. They are not a recommendation or a prescription. Your dose, form and schedule should be set by a licensed clinician who knows your history and lab results.

## Is GHRP-2 right for you?

A clinician makes the call. These are the questions they will ask first.

### It may suit

- Adults curious about growth hormone biology who want a clinician to review their labs first
- People who want to understand how GHRP-2 differs from ipamorelin and GHRP-6 before deciding anything
- Anyone who wants glucose and insulin measured before and after, not guessed

### Talk to a clinician first if you are

- Diabetes, prediabetes or insulin resistance, or taking diabetes medicine
- A personal or family history of cancer (growth hormone and IGF-1 promote cell growth)
- Pregnant or breastfeeding
- A history of pancreatitis
- Tested athletes (WADA prohibits growth hormone secretagogues)
- Serious illness or a stay in intensive care

Vitals Vault peptide care starts with a blood panel and a licensed clinician, and ends with a retest.

## GHRP-2 vs GHRP-6

GHRP-2 vs GHRP-6
| Attribute | GHRP-2 | GHRP-6 |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Relationship | Synthetic analog of GHRP-6 | The original hexapeptide |
| Growth hormone release | Strong, similar to hexarelin | The first hexapeptide studied extensively in humans |
| Prolactin, ACTH, cortisol | Raised in human studies | FDA flags a cortisol effect |
| On FDA’s safety page | Yes, injectable and nasal, 503B | Yes, 503B |

## A growth hormone pulse is only as good as the metabolism around it

What a pulse does depends on the body it lands in, especially blood sugar, insulin and cortisol. Growth hormone works against insulin, and GHRP-2 also raised cortisol in people. FDA’s page lists increased insulin requirement among the reports it has received.

That makes your own glucose handling the first thing worth knowing. Several everyday habits shape the same system without any injection.[12](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-fda-bulks)[5](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-arvat-1997)

### What else moves the same system

1. 01Deep sleepThe largest natural growth hormone pulse tends to arrive in early deep sleep. Protecting sleep protects that pulse.
2. 02Resistance trainingHeavy lifting is one of the strongest natural triggers for growth hormone release.
3. 03Insulin and glucoseHigh insulin blunts growth hormone release. Fasting glucose, fasting insulin and HbA1c show where you stand.
4. 04Stress and cortisolChronic stress raises cortisol, the same hormone GHRP-2 pushes up. A morning cortisol shows your baseline.

## Is GHRP-2 FDA approved?

No. GHRP-2 is not an FDA-approved drug. FDA’s compounding safety page lists it for injectable and nasal routes under 503B, and the October 29, 2026 enforcement discretion covers six other peptides that do not include GHRP-2.[12](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-fda-bulks)[13](https://www.vitalsvault.com/peptides/ghrp-2#source-ncpa)

## GHRP-2 questions

What is GHRP-2 used for?

GHRP-2 is studied as a diagnostic test for growth hormone deficiency and for how ghrelin affects appetite and growth hormone release. People also ask about it for muscle and recovery, but there are no controlled trials showing those benefits. It is not FDA-approved for any use.

What are the benefits of GHRP-2?

The documented effects are a strong, short rise in growth hormone and an increase in appetite. Its best-supported research use is a one-dose test for growth hormone deficiency. Benefits for muscle, fat loss or ageing in healthy adults have not been shown in controlled trials.

How does GHRP-2 work?

It activates the ghrelin receptor on the pituitary and in the hypothalamus. The pituitary responds with a pulse of growth hormone. The same receptor drives hunger, and GHRP-2 also raises prolactin, ACTH and cortisol.

What are the side effects of GHRP-2?

Studies show higher prolactin, ACTH and cortisol and increased food intake. FDA’s page reports increased insulin requirement, infection, pancreatitis and deaths in critically ill study subjects, with causality not established, and warns of immune reactions.

Does GHRP-2 make you hungry?

Yes, in the one controlled test of it. Seven lean men given a GHRP-2 infusion ate about 36 percent more at a buffet than on saline, and every one of them ate more. That fits its biology, because it acts on the receptor of ghrelin, the body’s hunger hormone.

What is the GHRP-2 dosage?

There is no FDA-approved dose. Studies gave GHRP-2 as a single test dose into a vein, or as a slow continuous infusion under the skin or into a vein over hours to days, not as a home schedule. Your clinician sets your dose.

GHRP-2 vs GHRP-6: what is the difference?

GHRP-2 is a synthetic analog of GHRP-6, the first hexapeptide studied extensively in people. Both act on the ghrelin receptor and both raise cortisol. FDA lists both on its compounding safety page.

Is GHRP-2 FDA approved?

No. GHRP-2 is not an FDA-approved drug. FDA lists it, for injectable and nasal routes, among bulk substances that may pose significant safety risks for 503B compounding, and it is not among the six peptides covered by the October 2026 enforcement discretion.

Is GHRP-2 banned in sports?

Growth hormone secretagogues and releasing factors fall in the S2 class of the WADA Prohibited List, which applies in and out of competition. Tested athletes should not use GHRP-2.
